This document provides system requirements and instructions for installing HelpTrac 8 C/S on a Windows computer.

NOTE: Hard drive requirements for database size are dependent on the amount of records in HelpTrac. 2 GB is recommended for large number of tickets (50,000) with backups. Obviously, the more records you have, the more space you need. Performance increases with more RAM and faster processor(s).
HelpTrac customers might notice degradation in speed if either the client or server machines are running a high number of applications and/or services. Client/Server customers are more likely to experience this than HelpTrac File/Server customers, due to the nature of Client/Server technology.
If you’re installing from the CD, insert it into your computer’s CD-ROM drive and choose install Product, HelpTrac Client/Server, then Install Server.
If you’re installing from downloaded files, please execute HT8CSS.exe.

Enter the password for the install, if you don’t have one please contact HelpTrac Support.

Please click Next on the Welcome screen.

Read the License Agreement in its entirety and then click Yes if you want to continue with the installation.

Computer Name or IP address is how the clients will contact the server (example: SERVER1, 192.168.1.1)
The Destination Folder will contain HelpTrac’s databases, reports, notes, etc. Click on Browse to change the Destination Folder. All HelpTrac clients/workstations will need full rights to this folder.

If you would like to view HelpTrac’s readme file after the installation is complete, please check View the HelpTrac 8 readme file.
Then click Finish.
Copy the license file (file ending with LI$ that was sent via email) to the destination folder. If you don’t have a license file please contact marketing.

Path to HelpTrac Database Files should point to the same folder as the Destination Folder in Step 3.
Destination Folder will contain the HelpTrac executable that allows access to the databases.
